Wouldn’t it be wonderful if kids could look through a scope which was built for THEM? Well...now they can!!! The Brisbane Astronomical Society has created a telescope made out of Lego, and at a scale which is child friendly. They can learn all about “how it works”, because all the interior optical parts are clearly visible.

Specification:

  • 6” Dobsonian.
  • 750mm focal length
  • Build time - 2 weeks
  • Cost - approximately $2000

The 6" Skywatcher Black Diamond reflector scope which was purchased from Star Optics at a very discounted price. Thanks again guys for supporting our project.
The 400 white 6 x 1 Lego blocks ordered from Bricks to the world website.

Some of the many pieces which have been sorted into containers. This allowed for a much faster build time.

The primary mirror set inside the beginnings of the octagonal optical tube assembly. Collimation screws may be installed at a later stage to allow accurate alignment of the mirror.
